Sound is okay on my copy last I checked, however the labels are mismatched
The album is a solid 4 stars, but I rate records on SQ, this got a 2/5. Bad pressing. Shame for such a good album. Had to buy it on CD instead. If you like spending big money on new records and enjoy lots of pops, surface noise, and bad mastering, buy this album. Definitely not a true vinyl experience, you're better off getting the CD. Call me bitter, I am sick of gambling on new records that turn out 50% or more are junk.
Unfortunately I have to agree. I don’t mind the popping but the overall sound is very tinny and thin for vinyl. It lacks the low end and weight. I just bought the vinyl b/c I love this album. It’s a shame they could not capture the sound.
I agree. I bought this brand new (sealed) a few years ago and it had quite a bit of surface noise and scuffs right from the factory. The jacket is cheap, too. The material is thin and flimsy.
Basic pressing, and decent sleeve...Nothing impressive, guess that's because it was for the US market? Or maybe because it was their first album release?Anyhow I wash all my albums before playing them (especially new ones). This one has a too much surface (static) noise that it really shouldn't have. I hope their second album release is of better quality. Cheers.
MarshallMack2333 - Basically you rinse the album with cold water in the kitchen sink (careful not to wet the label, no biggie if it gets a little wet however). Then using a paint pad and solution you run the brush around the record a few times (3x) then rinse off the solution and dry with a couple microfiber cloths. Let the album dry for at least 15 mins before playing. You can buy a solution online or make your own. I make my own solution - in a 160z bottle of water, add few drops of Dawn dish soap, a couple of drops of Finish detergent (yes the stuff you put in the dishwasher) and distilled water. Basically doing what SPIN-CLEAN does but by hand. You tube is filled with videos on how to go about it. Hope this helps.
I am new to vinyl. How do you “wash” a record before you listen to it?
Guess they don't make 'em like they used to eh? I have some older records, like 50's, 60's that sound better than this copy, agreed. Cheers.
I'm a collector of almost only older albums, mostly 50's through 70's, and I've noticed more noise on brand new, never opened albums (such as this) than I ever have on used albums of the late 60's and 70's
Nice pressing despite some surface noise at A side on first two tracks.
I had exactly the same problem and thought it might just be my copy.
