Don't Be Afraid of Love is the second studio album by Lo Fidelity Allstars, originally released on Skint Records in 2002. It features guest appearances from Jamie Lidell, Greg Dulli, and Bootsy Collins. Lo Fidelity Allstars Andy Dickinson, Johnny Machin, Dale Maloney, Phil Ward, Martin Whiteman production. Phil Ward vocals. Martin Whiteman vocals. Jamie Lidell vocals. Lisa Millett vocals. Andy Dickinson vocals. Sanj Sen production. It's never easy to sum up a scene even years after its peak, but with their second album, Lo Fidelity Allstars produced an all-encompassing statement on contemporary dance right in the midst of said scene. Shoved along the path to re-creating themselves by virtually imploding on the eve of a big 1999 tour, Lo Fis returned with a statement of purpose on the title track: we hit the ground running with a new-found sound, over a KLF-style disembodied vocal chorus. Perhaps spurred on by the success of 1999s Battleflag, Lo Fidelity Allstarss follow-up, Dont Be Afraid of Love, is sonically and conceptually more aggressive than their debut. Case in point: the track Cattleprod is intentionally Battleflag -esque, if only for recognition purposes Oh yes, this is the band who had that hit that time . Ultimately, the track sounds more like Smashmouth than Lo Fi Allstars. Copies aside, the eclectic Dont Be Afraid of Love is an assured sophomore effort-the gritty opening track What You Want exhibits an underlying sweetness while the bouncy, 70s-sou.
