Album

Elton Dean's Ninesense was a jazz ensemble led by British saxophonist Elton Dean. The ensemble could feature Alan Skidmore on tenor, Mark Charig and Harry Becket on trumpet, Nick Evans and Radu Malfatti on trombone, Keith Tippett on piano, Harry Miller on bass, and Louis Moholo on drums. A recording by BBC Radio 3's Jazz In Britain program was released with four tracks recorded May 19th 1975 and two tracks recorded March 17th 1978. For that recording, the personnel were: Mongezi Feza - pocket trumpet on Dancin', Soothing, Sweet Francesca, read more. Since Elton Dean's Ninesense only recorded two albums, this 55-minute CD of two BBC sessions adds a great deal to the body of audio documentation of this outfit. The first of the sessions, from May 19, 1975, was recorded ten months before they did the first album, and includes in the lineup original pocket trumpeter Mongezi Feza, who did not appear on either of Ninesense's LPs. Feza, in fact, died six months after the session. The four songs from the first session are very much in the larger-than-normal-ensemble free jazz mode, though a skewed be-bop influence is also apparent, par. Composed by Elton Dean. The top ranked albums by Elton Dean's Ninesense are Live At The BBC, Oh For The Edge and Happy Daze. This album came as one of the most pleasant surprises in 2011 for me - I have always liked Elton Dean's music, whether he is playing as part of the Soft Machine, or solo. After some years of silence, Ninesense Suite just refreshed and reactivated my old love. This album is a strange one. It features only two compositions, both recorded in the early 80s by two totally different bands. Elton Dean , Louis Moholo and others. Songs in album Ninesense Suite 1982. Louis Moholo ft. Elton Dean 28 October 1945 8 February 2006 was an English jazz musician who performed on alto saxophone, saxello a variant of the soprano saxophone and occasionally keyboards. Dean was born in Nottingham, England, moving to Tooting, London, soon after his birth. From 1966 to 1967, Dean was a member of the band Bluesology, led by Long John Baldry. The band's pianist, Reginald Dwight, afterward combined Dean's and Baldry's first names for his own stage name, Elton John. This fact is noted in the. These previously unreleased Berlin tapes from 198182 reveal Ninesense in its most unkempt and least thematic final phase on one long track, and the late trumpet star Harry Beckett with just the band's bassist Harry Miller and drummer Louis Moholo on the other. The bigger group thrashes for 41 minutes on a set that minimises saxophonistleader Elton Dean's rousing themes in favour of one-touch-passing improv between smeary trombones, nimble trumpets and flowing piano lines, often corralled by hammer-blow horn-chord exclamations.
