Album

Waters of Change is the second album by the Scottish progressive band Beggars Opera, published in 1971. With respect to its predecessor Act One, Waters of Change features a rather different sound, which is less derivative of The Nice and Deep Purple MK I, and it is often described as the band's best work. Ricky Gardiner - lead guitar, vocals, acoustic guitar. Martin Griffiths - lead vocal, Cow Bell. Alan Park - organ, piano. Gordon Sellar - bass and acoustic guitar, vocals. Waters Of Change. This band was from Scotland, their name is derived from an opera 'The Beggars Opera by John Gay in 1728. The musicians of BEGGARS OPERA were Martin Griffiths vocals, Rick Gardiner guitar and vocals, Alan Park keyboards, Gordon Sellar bass, acoustic guitar and vocals, Virginia Scott Mellotron and vocals and Raymond Wilson drums and percussion. BEGGARS OPERA made a lot of records but remained acting in the shade of most progressive rock bands. Time Machine, 08:07. Lament, 01:50. Scorpions Wind Of Change. Retro FM. Queen I Want to Break Free. Only for completionists 1. Waters of Change is a good symphonic prog rock album but I dont think its excellent. This is and album organ enthusiasts will probably enjoy more than I do. Ill rate Waters of Change 3 stars and like in my review of the debut I must admit that Beggars Opera just isnt something for me. Review by ZowieZiggy PROG REVIEWER. Band Name Beggars Opera. For Waters Of Change the line-up remained the same except for: GORDON SELLAR replaced Marshall Erskine on Bass As well as Alan Park - VIRGINIA SCOTT played Mellotron and Sang. Beggars Opera rearranged it into a seven minute Mellotron romp that comes at you like Vaudeville meets Progressive Rock melodrama as Martin Griffiths bursts in with his effected vocals Focus ahoy. Easier on the ear is Passacaglia written by Virginia Scott and Marshall Erskine which gives some great Steve Howe type-guitar in its rocking mid-section
